Eid al-Adha is one of the most important days of worship in Islam, observed on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah. This day is established as a symbol of complete obedience and submission to the command of Allah. For Muslims, it is not merely a festival; rather, it represents a combination of worship, piety (taqwa), and social responsibility. On this day, through prayer, sacrifice (Qurbani), charity, and humane behavior, one gets the opportunity to attain closeness to Allah.

An important aspect for a Muslim on the day of Eid al-Adha is to develop a mindset of obedience to Allah and willingness to sacrifice. Through acts such as performing Salah, offering Qurbani, helping the needy, visiting the sick, and maintaining family ties, a person aligns their life towards Allah. At the same time, refraining from wrongdoing and harmful actions is also part of the significance of this day.

Some Sunnah acts of Eid al-Adha hold special importance and are practiced following the example of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Beginning the day by waking up early, performing ghusl (ritual bath), using miswak, and applying fragrance are among these Sunnah practices. Wearing clean and modest clothing in accordance with Shariah is also part of the etiquette of this day.

It is mentioned as a distinctive practice of Eid al-Adha to avoid eating before the Eid prayer, although there is no problem if someone does eat. It is preferable to have the first meal of the day from the meat of the Qurbani after the prayer. Arriving early at the Eid ground, performing the prayer in an open field rather than a mosque, and going to the prayer on foot are also among the Sunnah practices. However, using transportation is permissible due to distance or physical difficulty.

Using different routes when going to and returning from the Eid prayer and reciting takbir abundantly are also described as Sunnah acts.

Performing Qurbani after the Eid prayer is one of the most important acts of worship of this day. For those who are financially capable, offering Qurbani is highly significant. It is not merely a ritual, but a true manifestation of sacrifice for the sake of Allah.

Overall, Eid al-Adha is a day that creates a balance between individual, social, and spiritual life. By following the Sunnah, its observance goes beyond a mere celebration and becomes part of a believer’s way of life, where God-consciousness, responsibility, and humanity are equally reflected.
