Saudi Arabia is not only the custodian of Baitullah (the House of Allah), but it has also been playing a leading role in the preservation, printing, and global dissemination of the Holy Qur’an. A unique manifestation of this responsibility is the Madinah Qur’an Printing Complex, officially known as the King Fahd Glorious Qur’an Printing Complex. Today, this complex is not merely a printing press; it is an international institution dedicated entirely to the service of the Qur’an.

🔵 Journey

The Madinah Qur’an Printing Complex began its journey in 1984 and was officially inaugurated in 1985 under the directive of the then King of Saudi Arabia, King Fahd bin Abdulaziz.

The main objectives behind its establishment were:

  • Printing the Qur’an with absolute accuracy and authenticity
  • Distributing the Qur’an free of charge to Muslims around the world
  • Publishing translations and explanations of the Qur’an in various languages

🔵 Facilities of the Complex

The Madinah Qur’an Printing Complex is a fully modern and comprehensive institution. It includes:

Advanced Printing Units

  • State-of-the-art German and European printing machines
  • Capacity to print tens of millions of copies of the Qur’an every year

Accuracy and Verification Department

  • Supervised by experienced Huffaz, Qaris, and Islamic scholars
  • Every copy of the Qur’an is reviewed through multiple stages
  • Even a single letter’s error results in rejection

Multilingual Translation Department Currently, translations and explanations of the Qur’an are published in:

  • Bengali
  • English
  • Urdu
  • French
  • Turkish
  • Indonesian
  • Hausa
  • Chinese and more than 40 languages in total

Audio and Digital Department

  • Qur’an recordings in the voices of world-renowned Qaris
  • Mobile apps and digital versions
  • Special editions for the visually impaired

🔵 Distribution of the Qur’an

Qur’ans published by this complex are distributed to:

  • Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi
  • Hajj and Umrah pilgrims
  • Various Muslim countries around the world
  • Islamic centers, mosques, and embassies

Most importantly, these Qur’ans are never sold; they are distributed completely free of charge.

  • Permission is usually granted through group or official requests
  • Educational institutions, Islamic organizations, and official tour groups are given priority
